A Heart for Giving

Supporting Myanmar’s communities when it matters most

Kindness to Marla isn’t just a choice-it’s a calling. Through her foundation, she’s turned empathy into

action across rural Myanmar.

Myanmar Kindness Foundation

In 2017, Marla founded the Myanmar Kindness Foundation to support healthcare, education, and

essential needs in remote communities. Her message is clear:

“You don’t need a lot of money. You just need a genuine heart.”

Key Projects

– Launched the first dialysis unit in Kachin State.

– Started with 4 machines, later grew to 9.

Supported over 140 surgeries in partnership with Rotary and SingHealth.

Helped screen 800 women for cervical cancer.

Provided eyeglasses to over 1,000 villagers.

– Responded to the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar.

– Provided food, blankets, and medical aid to affected families.

– Worked with Operation Brahma and Myanmar Red Cross for emergency relief.

Gilbarto Marla Bridge

In 2023, Marla opened a 576-ft suspension bridge in Putao, built in memory of her late husband, Dr.

Gilbert Chua. Connecting two remote villages, the Gilbarto Marla Bridge now allows families to travel

safely year-round-even during monsoons.

“This bridge isn’t just concrete. It’s a promise-to my husband, and to these people.”

Kindness in Every Detail

Marla’s team doesn’t just provide help-they stay. They return with blankets, snacks, and

smiles-building trust and relationships that last far beyond any single project.
